With nearly 400 000 insured and premiums of more than 1 billion francs, INTRAS is among the largest health insurers in Switzerland and is recognised as a reliable and trustworthy provider of competent services. INTRAS provides LAMal compulsory health insurance as well as LCA supplementary insurance.

Founded in 1964 by the companies La Genevoise, 'la Suisse' and la Vaudoise Assurances, INTRAS stands out as the insurer of individuals and enterprises by focusing activities on service, customer information and quality while favouring controlled and reasonable growth. This strategy allows INTRAS to guarantee the high level of service that has made its reputation, and to retain ISO 9001:2000 certification.

1964 Three insurance companies create INTRAS: la Genevoise, 'La Suisse' and la Vaudoise. The health insurer's head office is in Geneva, where INTRAS sets up its first agency.
1967 INTRAS opens its first Swiss-German agency in Saint-Gall.
1973 INTRAS management moves into its present-day premises in Carouge.
1982 INTRAS inaugurates its Lausanne agency.
1987 INTRAS insures 200'000 customers. The company opens an agency in Zurich.
1995 To be closer to its insured, INTRAS sets up six new agencies in Basel, Bern, Aarau, Winterthur, Lucern & Neuchatel.
1997 INTRAS provides cover to 300'000 customers and is now one of the eight largest health insurers in Switzerland. Opening of two new agencies: Geneva-Airport and Zurich-City.
1998 INTRAS continues to develop with the opening of its thirteenth agency: Solothurn. The company as a whole is awarded ISO 9001 quality standards certification.
1999 INTRAS opens an agency in Lugano and inaugurates its Bern-City agency.
2000 Emblematic year marking the company's consolidation and the upholding of its position among the six largest health insurers. Over 400'000 customers are insured by INTRAS.
2001 Creation of INTRAS INSURANCE SA to manage supplementary insurance. Opening of a new agency in Sion as of September 1st 2001.
2003 Opening of a new agency in Fribourg as of July 1st 2003
2005 INTRAS celebrates its 40 years of activity, a sign of its stable and lasting presence in the field of health insurance, and develops its sales network
2006 INTRAS has a new organisation focusing on two goals. Namely, being at the disposal to the insured parties to provide them with a quick and competent advice and optimising staff skills to imporve services such as checking medical expenses to reduce the average cost per policyholder and stabilise insurance premiums.
